About Us

    O STAR Institute is a Technology and Innovation Center (CTI) focused on the automotive and adjacent industries and their value chain, promoting an interface between universities and industry in different areas of innovation, research and development such as energy, circular economy, materials, print 3D, Internet of Things, robotics, processes e production technologies.

    With the principle of developing new products and services in a network of collaboration and technical and technological intermediation with companies in the sector, universities and associations, the STAR Institute is in a position to be a driving force behind the application of science and knowledge in industry .

    To contribute through R&D to the training and competitiveness of the Portuguese business sector dedicated to the automotive and adjacent areas in innovative technologies in emerging fields such as the circular economy, energy, digitalization, new materials, automation and robotics.

    To be an active agent in the national effort to expand and consolidate the network of interface institutions between the academic, scientific and technological system and the business sector, fostering investment in R&D and innovative investment in companies, as well as contributing to the enhancement of the knowledge and technology market.

    The STAR Institute aims to establish itself as a relevant Technology and Innovation Center (CTI) in the national scientific and technological ecosystem, supported by a development strategy based on the construction and development of a duly framed and capable R&D infrastructure, the hiring of highly qualified HR, a virtuous framework of institutional and business relations and a focus on the most pressing areas of innovation and development in the historical context in which we live, such as energy and digital transition, decarbonization and the challenges of resilience and sustainability. It also seeks to contribute to enhancing the region, particularly its business fabric and higher education, and to attracting and retaining young people.
